When five friends and I opened Hibbleton Gallery in 2008, none of us expected to make money. That was not our motivation. We all had other jobs. We simply wanted to bring culture and community to downtown Fullerton, to give expression and voice to the awesome creativity that surrounds us.
In over two wonderful (and difficult) years of owning the gallery, none of us has made a dime. In fact, we have each put in a lot of our own money just to keep our doors open, because we believe in what Hibbleton represents: community and creativity.
My personal values transcend the desire for wealth. I would much rather use my resources and time to contribute to my community, to give and to serve.
